It's out! It's released!
Game development is something that's interested me for a LONG time now and it shows a lot in most of my work, I think. Between past fiddlings with game engines (like Floppy Fish) and the way most of my other art takes heavy inspiration from the medium, I've always really wanted to get into it. Why I'm happy to have finally gotten off my ass and started learning Godot to make something. The project itself is very small, and truth be told I don't know if people will even find it all that fun to play, but I had fun and learned a lot while working on it so I hope the enthusiasm I put in can be infectious at the very least. I also can't stress enough how much of a help outside resources were from the royalty free music, to the plugins utilized, and to this video which was the kicker to finally get me to start learning for real. (It's for Unity, but it's very universal)
Not to mention thanks to my girlfriend and all my pals that were supportive over the course of development!
What now?
So I released this game with the version 0.8, and frankly I don't know how to properly "version" software if that makes sense. But I wanted to leave it open that this game doesn't have a lot of proper in-the-field testing done so bugs can be worked on and fixed if need be. Not only that, but if it feels worth it, I'd love to do feature updates as well. There's plenty of room left on the options screen and the lobby screen because I think more stages, match options, and things like rebindable controls are worthwhile additions down the line. Again, though, this is only if the game feels worth further nurturing. I'm also considering porting to https://gotm.io/ as a more accessible alternative, not requiring port forwarding since I know that's a pain in the ass to set up.
Otherwise, I really just wanna work on other different projects. I slowly learned more and more about coding and the engine itself while going through (which I think is VERY obvious in how some things are coded compared to others) and I just wanna get more ambitious! Not a ton more, but just something with a little more substance and ideally more fun to play. Singleplayer-focused, too. Debugging networking is hell and I dunno if I wanna touch that for a long time I'm sorry.
